my fight with mother nature

the weather this past week was very interesting.

if you've been reading, you saw that i was on the verge of being in a very bad mood because of a week full of rain (80% chance each day was the forecast).

well, as predicted, during the school days on monday, tuesday and wednesday, the bora was a-blowing and there were torrential downpours. ALL DAY LONG. this led to indoor recess which led to crazy students which led to less-productive school days which led to a somewhat stressed and very exhausted teacher (aka me).

however,  as i left school between 5ish and 6ish, the rain and wind had miraculously stopped entirely and the clouds had dissipated.  going down the mountain each night was more beautiful than the night before.  the air was clear which made the view of the city lights gorgeous and the adriatic was like a mirror reflecting the silvery rain clouds departing in the distance.  i mean it was incredible.

during november break, my dislike for trieste grew each day in direct proportion to my increased LOVE for amsterdam.  by the end of the week, i was convinced that once back in trieste, i would just be miserable and counting down the days until i could leave and move to my new dutch paradise (haha).  and then, arriving back to my apartment and checking the weather forecast only further solidified my fears.

after a hectic monday at school, as the tram went over the crest of the mountain down into the city, the incredible view of the trieste, MY city, reminded me that i don't hate it here and what was i thinking?!  i am not miserable like i thought i might be and although i still would love to move to amsterdam, i'm not quite as desperate to leave as i may have thought.
